Gifts for the Cool Dad

Father's Day Gift IdeasFather’s Day is this Sunday and it’s always sort of a tough weekend for me because I lost my dad a few years ago. Even though I miss him and wish I could spend the day celebrating him, there are plenty of fantastic dads in my life worthy of praise. I’ve compiled my favorite gifts for the cool dad- you know… the fun, outdoorsy, loving, adventuring, and hip dads out there, who sort of remind me of my own.

Fathers Day Gift Guide for the Cool Dad01. Personalized Needlepoint Wallet // It’s functional AND something they can keep forever.

02: Nikon CoolPix Camera // Kalyn has one of these babies and he takes it everywhere! It’s waterproof, so it comes canoeing with us, to the beach, and takes hilarious underwater pics of Finn swimming.

03: Yeti Cooler // I’m pretty sure owning one of these is every man’s dream. They keep things cold for days… seriously.

04: Weber Gas Grill & Smoker // The best part of this grill is the included smoker unit. Is this the hot new thing? Smoking meats? Kalyn keeps talking about wanting a gas / smoker grill combo.

05: Shwood Sunglasses // I have to admit- I thought these sunglasses were weird. During a day at the beach, I told Kalyn I thought they were ugly and he went on a rant and convinced me they’re pretty cool after all.

06: Pair of Thieves Socks // I just think these are fun!

07: Keen Hiking Shoes // I’ve said it a million times… I have these shoes, Kalyn has the men’s pair and they are seriously the best hiking shoes we’ve owned (and we’ve tried A LOT).

08: Dad Bod Shirt // Because this cracks me up and I’m a sucker for graphic tees.

09: Burton Rolling Gear Bag // This has a great masculine aesthetic and it seems really well-made. We’ve had Burton bags in the past that lasted a long time.

10: Jump Lightning Cable // So dads can charge their iPhones in a hurry.

11: Father’s Day Card // This was SO me growing up with my dad. I’m pretty sure he would think this is really funny!

12: Vans Old Skool Sneaker // Guys appreciate a good looking, classic sneaker… amiright?!

13: Garmin GPS Watch // This thing has all the bells & whistles- GPS, weather, fitness, etc… you name it- it probably has it. Perfect for the outdoor loving dads!

14: Hooded Jacket // Everyone loves a neutral, comfortable hoodie. It goes with everything.

15: Leather Cord Wrap // Maybe it’s just Kalyn- but I feel like a lot of complaining happens about cords getting tangled.

16: North Face Tent // This lightweight tent is perfect for 1 – 2 people for a little getaway or hike. Give Dad a weekend adventure away.

17. BBQ of the Month Club // Most dads appreciate good, quality meat… you can’t beat this BBQ! My good friend actually owns the company (I designed the shipping box shown above), and it’s seriously amazing stuff. I don’t even really eat red meat, but this is one of the few I actually like. It’s a go-to gift for guys.

In case you’re cutting it close this Father’s Day and need a gift shipped ASAP, hopefully this will help give you a little inspiration. Cheers to all of the amazing dads out there- enjoy and spoil them while you can!

Aww Sarah, reading this post – my heart hurts for you. Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers! Thank you for the kind reminder to spend our precious time on things (and people!!!) that matter, because it’s so easy to lose track of priorities when life’s a constant go-go-go and do-do-do.

Think I’ll get my dad that graphic tee – it seems right in tune with his humour. XO

    1. Thanks so much, Oksana… So sweet of you! Enjoy time with your dad. He must have an awesome personality and a great sense of humor if you think he’d like the shirt ;) xoxo

  2. I miss him too. I know he would be so proud of you. Love you!

    1. Thanks Meg! Love you too :)

  3. Thanks for the tips! I ended up buying my husband the Keen hiking boots (from the kids, of course!) and he LOVES them. This coming from someone who is not easily impressed with anything I buy for him!

    1. Yay!! So happy to help and even more excited he likes them. My husband and I hiked allllll weekend and lived in those shoes. They are the best :) Plus, kudos to you for being an awesome wife and gift giver, Melissa! xo
