My Favorite Fall 2018 One Room Challenge Spaces (+A Giveaway)
I participated in the last two One Room Challenges…. remember my bathroom? How about the laundry room? This time I ran out of house to renovate (ha, but really), so I followed along and lived vicariously through my friends. I’ll start this post by saying, it’s TOUGH to renovate an entire room in such a short period of time. It’s stressful, you don’t get much sleep, but in the end it’s always worth it. I wanted to pat my pals on the back and share some of my favorites from both the featured and guest categories! Back in the spring, I rounded up ten of my favorite ORC rooms. This time around, I’m back with 10 more that really grabbed my attention- 5 featured designers and 5 guest designers. Again, these are the ones that I thought were exceptional- but it’s all a matter of personal opinion. Check out all 200+ rooms here and decide for yourself. Let’s get to it, shall we?!
Erin’s Master Bedroom & Closet // featured designer
I hate to play favorites, but Erin’s space is my favorite… and not just because we’re friends. Girlfriend has some serious talent! I really appreciate her attention to detail.
From the millwork to the hardware, light fixtures, paint colors, textiles, and every single styling moment, her master suite stole the show for me. That walk-in closet and bedroom are absolutely dreamy!
Dee’s Bedroom // featured designer
Dee’s tiny extra bedroom is so impressive! I also had to share the view into the room as well…. because those arched built-ins are worth noting.
In the bedroom, I was uber impressed with the bunk design, wallpapered ceiling, hardware, drapery, and that GREEN paint color. You guys know I love a good green palette. It reminds me of our old dining room.
William & Susan’s Bathroom // featured designer
The Brinson’s really know how to renovate old homes better than any couple I’ve ever seen. How perfect is this bathroom?! They even made the toilet feel luxurious and beautiful- that’s a hard thing to accomplish.
I’m basically speechless because every single element is perfect… the floor tile, vanity, plumbing fixtures, paint color, I could go on and on.
Candis & Andy’s “Big Girl” Room // featured designer
Again, designers killed it in the millwork department this time around. Candis and Andy beefed up the mouldings and weren’t afraid to go bold in their daughter’s room.
I’m digging the modern meets vintage look- especially paired with the bright color palette for a kids room.
Dabito’s Guest House // featured designer
Dabito renovated an ENTIRE GUEST HOUSE. Like, what?! He must have a death wish or something. Somehow he pulled it off… a kitchen, bath, living space, etc. The works!
You just have to see it to believe it. Every single detail is perfectly colorful, playful, and sophisticated all at the same time.
Kristina’s Kitchen // guest designer
I hadn’t heard of Kristina until this ORC and I’m so happy to have discovered her space. This lovely minimal, white kitchen gave my eye a break from all of the color this challenge.
I could easily envision this space translating well to a scandinavian cabin in the mountains. It feels fresh and you already know I like natural wood cabinetry.
Emily’s Master Bedroom // guest designer
Emily is so great at styling! I love the way she perfectly accessorized her nightstand and fireplace in the master bedroom.
I also appreciated the drapery. There were some rooms that looked amazing, but I just couldn’t include because the drapery felt off. This is an example of how to do GOOD window treatments. She totally rocked the pinch pleat and french rod, that I love so much.
Taylor’s Girls Room // guest designer
It does not get any sweeter than Taylor’s girls room. It has the perfect blush, bohemian vibe that any little lady would be lucky to inhabit.
I also appreciated her panel moulding, millwork, and window treatments.
Cathy’s Converted Garage Kitchen // guest designer
My friend Cathy never ceases to amaze me! They converted a GARAGE into a KITCHEN. Yes- you read that right. I have to be honest… I wasn’t sure how it would turn out, but of course they nailed it. I never should’ve had a doubt!
Somehow they covered this space into a cozy, moody kitchen that feels welcoming and gorgeous.
Susie’s Family Room // guest designer
Susie’s family room surprised me. I absolutely love her choice in seating… the sofa and chairs are so super cool. I have to say, I’m not a fan of orangey paneling like this, but she actually made it work and pulled it off in a funky modern way!
