Wire Fox TerrierLOTS is happening in life, as well as with the renovation lately. Things are moving right along and we’re busier than we could’ve imagined, but the real news is our newest addition! We adopted another fur baby. Click through meet the most recent Room for Tuesday family member and to read about his adoption story.

After posting the Room for Tuesday survey results, it’s evident you guys can relate to pet content. Everyone asked for more dog posts and “would love to see more of Finn” was a common theme. I’m excited to share that we have a new furry family member. Last week we rescued an 8 month old wire fox terrier. I stumbled across him on KSL (similar to Craigslist, but for the western US) while I was looking for vintage furniture of all things. It must’ve been fate! The poor little guy was in need of some serious help- and fast. I couldn’t stop thinking about him after seeing the ad. I couldn’t even fall asleep because he was on my mind. The next morning, Emmett and I woke up early and spontaneously decided to go pick him up and introduce Finn.

Room for Tuedsay DogsThey’re obviously getting along really well. If you follow along on Instagram, you’ve probably already seen this one.

DogsHis previous owners were getting evicted and they couldn’t afford to keep him. It was a super sad situation for everyone. The poor guy had never been to the vet, never been brushed or visited a groomer, and was in some serious need of love and TLC. It sounds like he was crated most of his life. In his short 8 months, we’re the fourth(!) home he’s been in, but I’m happy to say it will be his forever home. He’s been with us one week and I’m happy to report he’s been to the vet, the groomer (hence the weird shaved haircut thanks to mats), and is adjusting to his new life wonderfully.

Meet Cash (as in Johnny Cash)… he’s much smaller than Finn (our 95lb giant schnauzer), but they love playing rough together. That leads me to question- what in the hell we were thinking?! A renovation, a busy full-time job, a blog, and now another dog. As if living in a messy construction zone with one rambunctious pooch wasn’t hard enough, we’ve added an untrained puppy to the mix. Sometimes life’s funny like that… I’ve come to find that some of the BEST things have been happy, unexpected surprises. This guy needed saving and a forever home, and of course I couldn’t say no (I mean- LOOK at those smiling teeth). Long story short, Expect to see some new posts on how we live with two pets, keep our house & furniture clean (ahem, the white sofa!), and deal with ugly pet accessories- because now we’re in double trouble and will be building custom crates and that look like furniture.

Dog SmilingAside from a week full of dog shenanigans, our renovation is moving right along. Our marble finally made it to Salt Lake and we’re working on scheduling fabrication and installation for our fireplace! Interiors doors and windows are still being trimmed out. Our third and fourth closet systems are scheduled to arrive this weekend (his and hers master closets). We’re also eager to dive into our bathroom reno. Speaking of the reno… thanks for ignoring our ugly and undone living room in these photos. We’ve yet to paint or bring in the new furniture. I’m waiting on the fireplace project to wrap up. For our little dog shoot, I pushed the coffee table out of the way and cleared out the room because these two like to wrestle like it’s their job.

I’ve been working on a few really fun e-design projects lately. I’m hoping I can convince my clients to share images, so I can reveal the rooms to you guys. One space is a complete kitchen reno, another is a bathroom reno, and the last is an outdoor living area. They all have very different styles and I couldn’t be more excited. Speaking of jobs…

Emmett has been on the job hunt. He’s officially in Salt Lake full time now (after commuting to and from the Midwest). It’s funny how much job hunting and the application / interview process has changed since we were in college. We were laughing about how it makes us feel old and obsolete already. Ha! I selfishly love having him home to do renovation things full-time, but I know his math brain is eager to exercise. That man lives for excel and data- we’re polar opposites.

Did you notice our new SHOP section on the blog? In addition to fun online finds, I have a new tab I’m testing out. I’m seeing how things do, so that someday I might be able to curate items and keep things in stock on the e-commerce store. Right now, it’s a bunch of gently used props, home decor, and other items used in photoshoots. Basically, I’m cleaning house and getting rid of some pretty amazing things since my new home is pretty small (including vintage items). Be sure to check it out because there are some STEALS!

A few things I have on my shopping list (some fun, some not-so-much)… a new drying rack- mine is rusting and rubbing off on our clothes. Any suggestions? These insanely gorgeous shoes are also on the list. I just found out my youngest brother is graduating early (way to go, Brett!), and this book is on my must-ship list. I recently started collecting matchbooks; not going to lie- these have already been purchased. This week after reading the newest Williams Sonoma Home catalog, I cannot get this piece out of my head. I want it! I keep thinking… 1.) If only it were in the budget, 2.) If only my house were big enough to fit it. Ha! Neither is going to happen, but it’s beautiful. I love burl. Always have, always will.

How’s your week going? Mine’s been sort of chaotic with deadlines. This weekend, I’ll most likely be working and practicing lots of dog training. Ha! Glamorous, right?
