Noteworthy : Inspiring Links and Updates - roomfortuesday.comSomehow a month has already passed, we’re headed into November next week, and it’s time for a new Noteworthy post! This year has really zipped by quickly. Does anyone else feel that way? Perhaps I’m in a reflecting mood because my birthday is this weekend and I’m looking back on another year, but I feel like time is flying. Anyway- I’m excited to usher in another year, enjoy the holiday season ahead, continue sharing inspiring & entertaining links, updates, design finds, and more. Click through for this month’s Noteworthy post! It’s filled with good reads, recent buys, fun articles, and some updated views around my home…

Ever wondered what I do before I posting an image to Instagram or the blog? Check out this article on 8 things home influencers always do before they take pics.

I’ve been on a reading frenzy lately. My older sister shares the best book recs and I’ve been going through one every week or so… I’m trying to replace some chill TV time in the evening with reading. If you’re interested in the ones I’ve finished in October so far, I’ll link them below… they’re all page turners:

Noteworthy : Inspiring Links and Updates - roomfortuesday.comThis video interview with Adele was so fun to watch because it shows the interior of her home. I spied lots of vintage rugs, colorful cabinets, and was bummed to hear that she thinks people don’t keep real books in their homes anymore. There is nothing I love more than a shelf or built-in stuffed full of interesting books! And- I definitely think you can tell a lot about a person by the books they keep in their home. On another note… her vintage stair runner is beautiful, and I’m envious of her outdoor area.

Just because it’s fall doesn’t mean pizza Fridays are over! We’re still making homemade pizzas around here to celebrate weekends. The next one on my must-try list? This barbecue bacon number from Sarah at Broma.

This Facebook Marketplace find has been tempting me. Should I get these?! I don’t have a place in mind for them, but I can’t stop thinking about this pretty pair… and after Peggi’s post on lampshades, I’m tempted! Someone should probably talk me out of it or into it.

Recent purchases? Most of my recent buys have been holiday related…

  • ribbon, ribbon, and more ribbon // Last year I missed out on the good ribbon I wanted, so I shopped early this year. Give me all the velvet and silk ribbons- I love the textures.
  • cypress wreaths // I snagged a set of these from our shop before they sell out… which they did quickly last year. These look SO realistic and are lovely installed in a trio.
  • cashmere sweater // I decided to buy myself a little early birthday gift and splurge for super soft cashmere sweater. I know I’ll be living in it this holiday season and winter! It’s a reasonable price for being 100% cashmere, and I love the mock neck.
  • pinecone wreath // Another wreath, but this one will fit within the mirror above our fireplace perfectly. I couldn’t stop thinking of it, so I finally decided to go for it.
  • loafers // Everyone asked about the shoes I was wearing at High Point market and I put some miles on these babies! They’re super comfortable, feel like slippers, and fit my wider foot really well. I got so many compliments on these and was glad I made a quick impulse buy a few weeks ago before we left for North Carolina.
  • topaz ornaments // I also grabbed a handful of these from our shop before they sell out. These hand painted ornaments look so timeless to me and they’re a great scale. This year I was determined to get the things I wanted before they were out-of-stock (since that happened often last year).

Noteworthy : Inspiring Links and Updates - roomfortuesday.comI know I’m early, but I’m already scheming my holiday decor because we have so many beautiful and festive things in the shop that I need to photograph (sooner rather than later)– wreaths, ornaments, candles, etc. I think for the sake of shop styling, Christmas decor is going to happen early at my house. Ha! I’m not at all mad about that situation. In fact, we’re already getting snow here, so it kind of feels right. I think you’re going to love my color scheme this year! Any guesses based on my recent purchases? I’m actually really excited about it. We have the most beautiful ginger jar and dog ornaments coming to the shop this weekend, so definitely follow along on IG if you want to see once those are available!

Speaking of shop talk, I wanted to congratulate my friend Chloe on opening her brick & mortar storefront, Boxwood Mercantile. If you’re in or near Reno, be sure to stop by and check it out! I can’t wait to visit in person someday. Hopefully soon!

While we’re dreaming of travel… after reading about my friend Alisa’s recent trip to Italy, I’m itching to book flights. I lived in Florence for a stint during design school and it was such a magical experience. I’d love to go back with Emmett- he’s never been. Just for fun… if budget, timing, or anything else wasn’t standing in your way, where would you hop a flight tomorrow?! I can’t wait to hear these answers. We’ve been doing lots of travel & adventure dreaming around here lately.

Noteworthy : Inspiring Links and Updates - roomfortuesday.comWe’re hosting a little family-friendly trick or treat this weekend to celebrate my birthday. Nothing says “this is 32” quite like passing out candy to cute kids for fun. I’m looking forward to seeing our friends as they swing by and I will say- Emmett and I pulled together some pretty epic Halloween costumes this year. I’ll definitely share on IG so you can get a good laugh! Here is your hint- they’re both Harry Potter characters. Any guesses?

We’ve been cleaning things up and winterizing around here. I wanted to share this helpful list with you… it really is the ultimate fall cleaning and chore checklist!

How do we feel about dog baths in the laundry? I’m anxiously awaiting our future laundry room renovation so we can install one of these! I also think they’d be great for cleaning up boots, gear, and just messes in general. I’d like to think I could design one that is ideal for multiple purposes.

Last, but not least- I have a big blog announcement for the holiday season. I’ll be sharing blog posts three times per week. If you’re a regular blog reader (thank you!!), I’ll have new posts on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays for you. As our Tuesday Made shop is becoming increasingly busy, and the hustle & bustle of the holiday season is upon us… I’ve been stretched thin in regards to my time. I’m hoping this schedule change will be beneficial for everyone. I’ll still have quality design inspiration for your regularly that is spread nicely through the week, and I’ll be able to get everyone’s holiday orders out the door in a timely manner- all while enjoying the season myself. As always, I appreciate your understanding and support- of both the blog and our shop. It means so much to me! Truly more than you know. You all have become such wonderful friends and this place is so special to me!

Noteworthy : Inspiring Links and Updates - roomfortuesday.comI’m looking forward to sharing so many beautiful and inspiring things this holiday season. I also have some fun surprises lined up for you, so please check back often, say hello, and keep in touch! And remember- new posts will go live Monday, Wednesday, and Friday… and of course I have thousands of helpful posts in the archives which can easily be searched or referenced. I’m looking forward to a fun and celebratory birthday weekend ahead. I hope you have a good one, too! See you back here on Monday?

  1. Good morning, good morning, good morning! You sure packed a lot into today’s post! (Also, how is October over??) I’ll have to add your book recs to my cart. I also should replace some mindless TV watching or scrolling with reading-better for us in every way. As for those fbmp lamps, I am here to offer the necessary encouragement! Run! Get them now! Those blue pleated shades?? And a pair! Now that my lamp influencer duties are discharged🤣, let’s talk about that pinecone wreath. I love the texture! I’m wondering if I could diy one… You’ve also got me pondering that travel question! I kind of froze under the pressure, but I think I’d have to choose someplace warm and ocean-y with lots of outdoor “adventure for weenies” opportunities…final answer-Belize. I’m not much into Halloween, but please tell me that Emmett is going to be Hagrid. I’ll definitely be scouring IG this weekend!! I am into a dog bath if it was in a mudroom. Actually, now that I’m thinking about it, I might like the laundry located near an entrance…so mudroom/laundry/dog bath. You design it, Sarah, and I’m in! I’m also 100% behind your new blog schedule! Mon/Wed/Fri seems perfect! (Get ready for quick “Hello” DMs in case I miss you on the off days.🥰) And, most important of all, have the MOST amazing birthday! I’ll be sending virtual hugs and loving energy!🎂🥳 Cheers to you, friend!!💜

    1. I know! Where did October even go?! I only made it halfway through my baking list and still have to tackle that pumpkin roll!! I tried to get the lamps, but someone had just spoken for them. I fear I shouldn’t have shared them in a post because now I’m having regret. Haha! I love your travel pick. I was just chatting with my neighbor about Mexico- they have a timeshare and are also super into scuba diving. They’re world travelers and claim that their most favorite diving has been in Mexico, so now it’s on my list! I’ve only visited Puerto Vallarta and Sayulita, but they were wonderful trips with some good adventures. I’d love to go in April or May and dive with the whales that migrate. It’s on my bucket list. Emmet is going as Dumbledore and I’m going to be McGonagall. Ha! We haven’t dressed up in ages, but our friends have kids at fun ages, so we’re playing along. I’m looking forward to having cake and charcuterie. Haha! I’m all for a quick hello DM if you miss a post… no pressure at all. I know your schedule has also changed, but there’s no stopping our comments and fun design conversations. I’ll catch up with you here or on IG or something! :) Thanks for the hug, happy energy, and well wishes. I hope you have an amazing last weekend of October, friend! xox

  2. Happy Birthday Sarah 🥳
Wow! 32 is such a great year and a Halloween party with friends sounds like tremendous fun 🥂
Let me guess…….Are you going to be Harry Potter and Emmett Hermione 😉 I could totally see you both having fun with that 😂
Yes this year has flown by and I’m not sure what happened to October 😳 But it’s crazy November is just a few days away. Honestly, I know I need to get in the Christmas mindset but I’m still not done with Fall yet. And our leaves are still transforming and not many on the ground I can’t believe you have seen snow already 🥶 I hate winter which is why we own a home in Florida 😍 ha!
That Cashmere sweater from J Crew is gorgeous and will look amazing on you. Awesome find!
Monday, Wednesday and Friday sounds like a perfect schedule for the blog 👍 I’ll be here.
Wishing you a fabulous birthday weekend filled with fun, surprises and Happy Halloween 👻
    Cheers friend 🥂
    Xo

    1. Thank you so much, Colleen! Harry and Hermoine were already taken, but I LOVE the role reversal. That would be hilarious and I’m wondering why I didn’t think of that. Haha! I’ll spill the beans- I’m going to be McGonagall and Emmett is going to be Dumbledore. We’re also still enjoying fall. The weather has been so finicky lately- fall like and then full on snow. Ha! I’ll take whatever comes our way. Thanks so much for the sweater compliment- I’m excited to wear it, and thank you for your continued support, for reading, and for chatting with me here on the blog. I have the best time having conversations and catching up! I hope you have a lovely weekend as well! xox

  3. Happy Birthday weekend Sarah! I hope you have a wonderful day celebrating you.
Theres lots of info, ideas and thoughts in this post. You had me at Adele! I will be watching her interview next. I kind of chuckled when you said you were looking at the interior of her home. I sometimes get lost in others’ homes too and have to go back and focus on what they were chatting about. Ha! I am definitely a movie/show watcher rather than reading books but I will say I did read ‘The Good Sister” while on vaca this summer and it was good. “The Last Thing He Told Me” has me wanting to read it but not as much as watching a couple of shows. While cleaning or cooking I will put on baking shows. Watching the Halloween bake-offs is interesting…so many talented people.
Ah, the holidays are coming quick. When we were packing up our stuff and put it in storage, I did not think of things we might need like stockings. We have decided to buy a real christmas tree this year and decorate with just lots of lights. When I saw the cinnamon color of your ribbon, I hit the buy button fast. I too was late last year getting pretty ribbon and there was none to find. Your ribbon choices are beautiful. Just need to find a pretty olive green one. I tend to not use traditional colors for my decorations.
Dog baths have been on my mind and radar lately too. We want one either in our laundry room or garage. I cannot wait to see what your creative mind comes up with. Completely understand the need to scale back during the holidays or anytime of year. I’ll be here reading and looking forward to your posts.
This is my first Halloween in 26 years that I will not be handing out candy. We are heading to Nashville tomorrow and I cannot wait to see fall colors; eat bbq; experience the culture and maybe see a show. Cannot wait to see pics of yours and Emmett’s costumes. Have a great birthday weekend friend!

    1. Thank you, Danna! I appreciate it. I’d love to hear some of your favorite shows! I’m all about the baking competitions. I can’t believe the holidays are so close. This year just flew by! Having a real tree will be fun. We have bad allergies, so we’ve never had one in our home- but we enjoy tagging along with friends to chop one down and enjoy cider and hot cocoa. Who knows- maybe you’ll start a new family tradition! I love your idea of cinnamon with olive green- I’m going with navy, but either of those will be so gorgeous! I appreciate your continued support and for taking the time to read and say hello… this is always the best part of my day :) Have the most wonderful time in Nashville! Let me know if you need any recommendations… we have family there and visit often. Enjoy some delicious food! xo

  4. Hi Sarah! I’m loving this blue/cinnamon theme (I think) you have going on for the holidays! With your touch I know it will be beautiful. I’m going the tartan route this year – I need to check out the shop for some inspo and shopping. Is your birthday on Halloween? Mine is! Happy birthday, birthday twin (or at least same weekend!) The big 3-6 over here!

    1. Yes! You guessed the color palette, Amanda :) I’m excited to see things come together for the holidays. I’m all about tartan these days- so classic and timeless. My birthday is on the 30th, so I’m usually celebrating in costume. Haha! Hope you have an amazing 36th!! Cheers to a fun birthday weekend, friend!

  5. Wishing you the happiest of birthdays!

    1. Thank you so much, Arli! I hope you have a wonderful weekend.

  6. Hagrid and Hedwig – ha-ha-ppy Halloween birthday weekend!

    1. Thank you so much, Kari!! No- but that would be a GOOD one. One of the cute babies in our friend group is going to be Hedwig, so adorable.

  7. I see you’re going to be McGonagall, but with your blonde hair, my first thought was Rita Skeeter! I didn’t think I was right, but I did think that would be fun! haha. I am dressing as Mrs. Peacock – basically an excuse to wear my grandma’s mink stole.

I studied abroad in Italy, too! I lived in a little town in the middle of nowhere called Paderno del Grappa. It’s about an hour north of Venice. I actually blogged about the whole trip and was really proud of my 70 followers!! It was a great way to document my trip and share it with family and friends. And I still refer back to it sometimes if I’m trying to recall the specifics. Hmm, hard to decide where to go if I could hop a flight tomorrow, but I would love to go to San Miguel de Allende in Mexico!

    Enjoy your birthday weekend!! :)

    1. Rita Skeeter would have been so fun! I LOVE Clue. That has always been a favorite game. I bet you looked amazing as Mrs Peacock (which was always my character when playing the game). Your grandma’s mink stole sounds incredible. I also loved hearing that you studied in Italy, too. I know exactly where Paderno del Grappa is :) I wish I would’ve blogged during my travels, but my blog came years after. Mexico also sounds pretty nice right now. I’m itching to go diving again, soon. I hope your November is off to an amazing start, Brittany! xo

  8. Misty Lynn says:

Thanks for all the great links! Added the books to my library list. Have you tried Quince cashmere? Several of my J.Crew loving friends have made the swtich with good things to say.

    1. I haven’t, but I’m about to! Haha! Thank you for the recommendation :) Excited to try!
