Packing for a Casual Beach Vacation

I’m heading out for a little getaway and I always dread packing. It’s the worst part of a vacation in my opinion. I’m slowly learning to consolidate and only pack what I absolutely need, but it tends to stress me out because I’d rather be super prepared- which leads to overpacking. As I’m getting older, I’ve come to agree that less is more. I only pack one outfit for each day (and sometimes less!) because lugging around a gigantic bag full of stuff is not fun. I thought it’d be fun to share what’s coming along in my suitcase!

Casual Chic Outfit

01: soko capped talon pendant // 02: smith and cult nail polish // 03: soko horn line cuff // 04: nixon leather strap rose gold watch // 05. striped t-shirt // 06: levi’s boyfriend jeans // 07: canvas wedge espadrilles

You’re probably not at all surprised by this outfit. You guys know my style and it definitely fits my stereotypical look. But hey- I like what I like… and I feel so comfortable wearing this outfit. This look is also really versatile- I could wear it during the day or night, to brunch, dinner, or even out exploring.

Beach Babe Outfit

01: double strap striped one piece // 02: floppy sun hat // 03: linen swim cover up // 04: elizabeth and james cat-eye sunglasses // 05: roxy tan flip flops

Surprise!! More stripes. This swimsuit is actually really flattering, despite the way it looks flattened. If you follow along on snapchat (@sar.gibs) you probably thought I was crazy for spending the day at my desk wearing this. Ha! I was trying to get used to it since I’m not quite swimsuit ready. Even though I’m self conscious, it truly makes me feel more comfortable and covered than other suits I own. It has a glam and classic appeal- the entire back is cut out and looks very modern (in a non-skimpy way)!

Boho Beauty Outfit

01: black oversized headband // 02: playlist sunglasses // 03: billabong swim top (mine is from last season, but the linked version is super similar) // 04: black mid-rise bikini bottoms // 05: black birkenstock sandals // 06: r+co dry shampoo // 07: turkish beach towel

On the contrary, this bikini is also a go-to suit in my closet. I love keeping it low key with a headband and Birkenstocks. I also found a spacious and inexpensive turkish beach towel that is SO soft. You won’t believe where I found it!

Cool and Comfortable Outfit

01: leather backpack (similar) // 02: patagonia black cross back tank // 03: striped linen, wide leg beach pants // 04: lace platform sneakers // 05: hammered open cuff bracelet

I’m not very good at sitting still and relaxing during vacation. I’m the type of person who likes to find adventure and explore. This is the perfect outfit for just that. Comfy, lightweight, wide leg linen pants with flatform shoes and a backpack. If I could wear this everyday, I’d be a happy lady!

Day to Night Outfit

01: crochet off-the-shoulder top // 02: steve madden aviator sunglasses // 03: small sued shoulder bag // 04: white paige ankle pants // 05: wood beaded necklace (similar) // 06: thea sandal in leather

Paige denim is my favorite! I swear their pants look good on everyone. I paired an off-the-shoulder blouse with white skinny jeans and comfortable leather slides. I’m also loving the blue suede cross body bag. It’s the perfect size for a day-to-night look.

Workout and Comfortable Clothes

01: cetaphil face wipes // 02: patagonia black cross back tank // 03: dry texturizing spray // 04: nike dry fit running shorts // 05: bon voyage toiletry bag // 06: cozy brushed sweat pants // 07: black oversized headband // 08: nike flex trainer tennis shoes // 09: soybu cropped leggings

Last but not least, I never leave without athletic or lounge clothes. Kalyn and I usually try to do some outdoor activities like hiking, running, fishing, or paddling. No matter what sort of adventure we find ourselves in, these pieces pretty much cover anything. Not to mention, I’m also perfectly happy sleeping in this. I like carrying face wipes (especially when reapplying sunscreen often) and dry texturizing shampoo. It’s perfect for beachy, messy hair.

Most of these pieces are interchangeable, so I’ll definitely end up wearing something more than once. In my book, I consider that a win because it means lighter weight luggage! This week, you can expect a lot of fun vacation or beach-related content.
