Roundup : Daybeds
How was your weekend? I wanted to kick off the week with a fun and fitting roundup… daybeds! As you know, that was the most difficult piece of furniture to source for my home office renovation. Aside from the manufacturing trouble I ran into (feel free to read about that here), it was tough to narrow down what style I was looking for. Over the past year, I saved a LOT of options, so I gathered them up to share… in case any of you are in the market for a daybed. I took comfort, size, price, and aesthetic into consideration. I really wanted a daybed that could double as an easy sleeping arraignment for overnight house guests (most likely our nieces or nephews), if needed. Click through for a big roundup of my favorites!
Even before I began designing my office, I knew I wanted a daybed in the space. Why? I just think they’re so charming, functional, and I have fond memories of daybeds from my childhood home. They have the ability to add a touch of whimsy to a space. You can cozy up with a good book, take a nap, hang out on your computer, use it for extra seating, or even to sleep for the night. I think daybeds are more functional than we give them credit for.
If I’m being totally honest- I really haven’t put my daybed to good use quite yet. I’ve probably spent a total of 45 minutes reading here, but the dogs are loving the extra lounge pad while I get work done sitting at my desk. It’s basically a glorified dog bed at this point and they spend the most time on it, but I’m definitely planning to use it now that I’m settling into my home office!
Ready to see my top picks? I tried to find options that were cozy, comfortable, and classic! Click directly on the daybed below to be redirected to the source…

I had a wrought iron daybed growing up that was passed down from my grandmother- it looked a lot like number #8 from the roundup. I’m not exactly sure where it ended up, but it was beautiful! I have such fond childhood memories with that bed in my room. Also during my adolescent years, I spent a lot of nights at my cousin’s house who lived next door- we’re the same age and my aunt bought a daybed with a trundle so I could easily sleep over. It was so convenient and fun- especially for kids. However, daybeds aren’t just made for children’s spaces! As an adult, I think they look very classic in a home.
Some ideas and uses for daybeds…
- A cozy spot to curl and read…
- For an extra sleeping space…
- In a window nook…
- Use as an oversized bench…
- To make larger rooms feel more cozy…
- Easily fits in a smaller bedroom…
- Installed in a kids room…
- In place of a sleeper sofa…
I actually wanted to find a daybed for our guest room window nook, pictured below… but the sizing was odd and I happened to stumble across this armless sofa that fit perfectly, so we did that instead. It kind of has a similar effect though!
Daybeds are also optimal for vacation or rental homes, if you’re trying to squeeze in an additional sleeping arrangement. Much like sleeper sofas, their small footprint and trundle option makes them the ideal selection for spaces that have frequent visitors.
I hope this roundup was helpful if you’re on the hunt for daybeds or have been brainstorming ways to use them! Another option is to always have a custom one built locally, like I did… or find a vintage option. I hope everyone has a lovely and productive week ahead. We still have snow on the ground here, but I’m thinking happy spring thoughts! Check back on Wednesday for a spring-related post from Peggi.
