5 Ikea Items That Caught My Eye

5 Ikea Items That Caught My Eye - roomfortuesday.comDuring the holiday weekend, Emmett and I focused our attention on the basement and phase one of making it a cozy, livable environment. After moving, we literally just shoved our existing living room furniture down there and it looked like an afterthought… not to mention the cord jungle. It was about time I floor planned more intentionally and made it feel more like home, given we spend a lot of time lounging down there. I’ll be sharing the entire makeover in a few weeks, but a big part of that included textiles… drapery to be specific. You guys know I have a soft spot for IKEA curtain panels because they’re fast and fit the budget. I ended up in IKEA twice over the long weekend (on supply runs) and snapped some photos of five items that caught my eye. Click through to see what grabbed my attention!

#1 : TUVALIE THROW

5 Ikea Items That Caught My Eye - roomfortuesday.comThe intro image probably gave this one away, as it was Laurie Anne who introduced me to this beautiful throw in her master bedroom makeover. It’s super soft, is made of 100% cotton, and the stripes are so chic. Although you can’t go wrong with classic black and white, I also love the crimson color- it’s perfect for fall! I grabbed one of these for my house.

#2 : Ã…RSTID PICTURE LIGHT

5 Ikea Items That Caught My Eye - roomfortuesday.comI also came home with two of these picture lights! That was something I had never noticed in the IKEA lighting department until this trip. I was surprised to find four pretty good gallery light options that would look fantastic installed above artwork. I’m mostly drawn to the traditional one pictured above, but there were a couple modern options as well. You can’t be the price, and they come in multiple finishes! Hide the cord and you’re good to go.

#3 : VANTORE RUG

5 Ikea Items That Caught My Eye - roomfortuesday.comThis rug surprised me… in a good way. I was looking for a large rug to cover the ugly carpet in our basement and didn’t expect to be so attracted to this one. In looks MUCH better in person than it does online. The geometric diamonds aren’t as evident and it’s a really nice color. It’s also very soft with a medium to high pile that would feel super cozy in the right room. It’s not too trendy, has a timeless look, and again- the price for a rug this size is kind of unheard of. It looks much more expensive than it actually is. It also comes in gray, but the beige felt more sophisticated, in my opinion.

#4 : PACHIRA AQUATICA POTTED PLANT

5 Ikea Items That Caught My Eye - roomfortuesday.comNext up, I noticed the live plant section. We’re lucky to have windows in the basement and I loved the look of the braided trunk on these money trees. It’s difficult to tell from the image, but they were pretty tall- some were even as tall as 4 feet… really a great size! I’m all about adding greenery and plants.

#5 : ALMALIE THROW

5 Ikea Items That Caught My Eye - roomfortuesday.comLastly, another throw. This one is also 100% cotton and is nice and heavy! I’m really digging the geometric grid look for fall and winter. This throw is also reversible, so you could style the white side up during spring & summer months. Win / win! Again- it feels higher end than the price tag reflects. You can’t go wrong!

5 Ikea Items That Caught My Eye - roomfortuesday.comAs for the basement mini makeover… that’s coming later this month, but I made sure to document every single thing! We basically worked with existing furniture and items we already had. We tackled phase one on a mega budget and in a time crunch. We spent two days “fluffing” the room and I can’t wait to share it. It’s definitely more reflective of our lifestyle and aesthetic now, while we wait to demo and fully renovate it someday.

Are you into any of these IKEA items? What other options have you seen lately and liked? I love shopping there for quick and budget-friendly pieces. It fit the bill this time around! After all… it’s all about mixing high and low. In case you missed it, check out this post: 15 home staples I buy from IKEA. It’s a really great one and not a single item was repeated in this post. I hope everyone had a nice holiday weekend! It’s back to the daily grind and I’m ready to tackle my to-do list.

  1. Picture lights?! Well, that’s a discovery! I also just realized that Salt Lake City is actually closer to me than Portland, yet I’ve never considered a weekend exploring trip! Hmmm. Happy short week! Can’t wait to see your basement updates.
